In a heartfelt announcement posted over her site as well as Instagram, Beyonce announced her pregnancy and the news of her carrying twins, with husband Jay-Z. Her website read –
“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.” – The Carters
Incidentally, the photograph that captures the talented artist bare bodied (albeit her lingerie), showing off her bump, inside an exquisite floral setting, and has become the top post of Instagram within 24 hours of being uploaded. With over 9 million likes, the photo has taken over Instagram’s earlier most liked photo, of Selena Gomez with Coke (with 6.3 Million Likes).
The singer shared photos of a surreal underwater photo shoot that seems to have drawn inspiration from the Roman Goddess Venus, and features the Egyptian queen, Nefertiti and the African deity Oshun (Just in case you forgot, Beyonce’s yellow layered, frock like flowing dress resembling the apparel adorned by this river deity), in the photo backdrops.

The photographs also feature Beyonce’s 5-year old daughter, Blue Ivy, in many of the photographs, for instance, passing on flowers to her mother in the below photo, seemingly inspired by 17th century Artist Guilo Reni’s work titled “Reclining Venus with Cupid.” (Cupid, often portrayed as Venus’ child in Greek Mythology).

It aren’t just the photographs that are breathtaking, but also, the poetry verses that accompany them. For instance, describing a special connection with Venus, she quoted a poem by Somali-British poet Warsan Shire that read –
“Venus has flooded me, second planet from the sun, I wake up on her foamy shore,” the poem read. “She wants to take me to meet my children. I’ve done this before i’m still nervous.”

While the photo shoot is truly majestic in its overall setting, there has so far been no mention of the photographer, or the star’s styled looks. More interestingly, the superstar’s decision to release the ornate gallery over her website, instead of some glamor filled web, or print publication is the subject of mass speculation.
Inside the array of photographs, Beyonce also threw out an old picture of her mother, Tina Knowles (while pregnant with her), drawing out her questions on whether her mother felt the same way as her during her own pregnancy.
She even described a verse about motherhood, which read –
“Motherhood is a cocoon, where cells spark, limbs form, mother swells and stretches to protect her child, mother has one foot in this world and one foot in the next, mother, black venus”
